Safety and Training Coordinator (38139)



Under the direction of the Manager of Safety & Training, provides administrative and analytical support to the Safety Department for the purposes of data analysis, statistical and other reporting, benchmarking activities, preparing and compiling reports and technical documents utilizing various software and tools. Works independently and as a team with internal and external stakeholders


  • Provides administrative, data entry and analytical support for all aspects of the safety program by compiling and manipulating analytical information/data, metrics, preparing and compiling reports and technical documents utilizing current software tools
  • Manages electronic and manual database systems to record high risk driver preventable incidents, collisions, injuries, complaints and passenger injuries. Ensures information is accurate and complete. Follows up with internal and external stakeholders as required
  • Reports WorkSafeBC claims and supporting documentation. Facilitates effective triaging of correspondence, determination of appropriate action, and timely follow up as appropriate. Maintains contact with all stakeholders through the claims and disability management process
  • Maintains First Aid email. Tracks WRI s and incidents/injuries, looking for trends and providing results to the Safety Solutions Committee (JOHSC)
  • Supports the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee as required. May be required to attend meetings and take minutes
  • Schedules and supports first aid attendants. Tracks certification in accordance with the WorkSafeBC OH&S Regulations. Arranges for recertification as required
  • Tracks and performs annual WHMIS training and ensures Safety Data Sheets are current. Tracks forklift certification for maintenance employees
  • Produces well-designed and accurate monthly and quarterly reports as well as spreadsheets and newsletters
  • Regularly reviews and is familiar with all applicable legislation and applicable standards to ensure compliance
  • Performs other related duties as required



  • Highschool diploma or equivalent
  • CRSP Designation is considered an asset



  • 2 to 3 years transportation, safety or related experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial safety rules
  • Computer literate with strong working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to appropriately interact with employees of all levels including drivers, customers, senior management, client representatives, union officials and general public
  • Strong conflict resolution, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality



  • Incumbent must be able to move about the office and in the surrounding company facility outside the office (e.g., bus parking lot); utilize standard office equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone
  • Must be able to drive company or personal vehicle within service area as needed
